What I wish I knew before living in Gages Lake

So, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $291,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Gages Lake sits at 105.5 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I've lived in Eastside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:

- Low crime in most neighborhoods

- Decent public transit for the size

- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:

- Limited public transit options

- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
