Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Charlotte about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in marketing here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is decent. Feel free to reach out with questions..
