The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,653 people. Median household income is $45,213, which feels on the lower side for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Tampa it's decent.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
