Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I wrong here? The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

I've lived in Old Town for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
