What Glens Falls North does better than anywhere else
I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $1,245 for rent here. Rent is about $1,245/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The outdoor recreation scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 49, moved here 6 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Greenfield and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a sales manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much developing but now it's solid.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
