Commute times in Glens Falls -how bad?

So, I'm originally from Salt Lake City and Crime rate is something to consider -Glens Falls sits at 195.7 per 100K. Homes are going for about $195,800 on average. Household incomes average around $70,089 in Glens Falls. With a population of 14,678, Glens Falls is a small town. Poverty rate is 7.2%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Baltimore about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in North for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
