Quick question about Grain Valley

Hey, The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Grain Valley sits at 145.2 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..
