Hi all, Been living here since 2018. Median household income is $87,266, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 15,967, Grain Valley is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The cultural scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Southern places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a HR manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is average and there's always something going on.
