Curious what people think. Crime rate is something to consider -Granite Bay sits at 82.8 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 42, moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in South and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Old Town for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- The food scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The food scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The safety is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
