Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider -Green Valley sits at 33.1 per 100K. Rent is about $1,135/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The safety is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Hope this helps!.

I've been here 3 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
