Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Francisco it's decent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

I've lived in Midtown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is tough
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for school and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The safety is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
