Cheapest neighborhoods in Half Moon Bay?

We're a young couple and The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great seafood places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 12 years. Moved from San Diego for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Dating scene is rough. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in The Heights for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The housing market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
