What Hammond does better than anywhere else

Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Atlanta and Poverty rate is 27.8%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $932/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this?

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
