Pros:

- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Am I overthinking this? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I've lived in Lakewood for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
