Moving from Houston to Happy Valley next month

OK so You can expect to pay around $2,025 for rent here. Median household income is $120,324, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Baltimore about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
