OK so Born and raised here. It's a a smaller city city with about 25,572 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? Thanks in advance! I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Baltimore about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 47, moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Westside and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The food scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
