Everly Garcia living

Day-to-day life in Hartford, CT

OK so With a population of 120K, Hartford is a mid-size city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Seattle it's solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 42, moved here 5 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Pine Hills and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The food scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
