Is Hartford worth moving to in 2026?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $45,300, which feels on the lower side for the area. Rent is about $1,221/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Francisco about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..
