Honest thoughts on life in Herrin

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 7 months ago and Household incomes average around $58,501 in Herrin. Crime rate is something to consider -Herrin sits at 333.9 per 100K. Homes are going for about $109,100 on average. The median home value here is around $109,100, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Easy commute
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Homelessness issues downtown
Let me know your thoughts. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Oak Park area are tough. Kids love it here.
