Is Hooper still affordable?

Just moved here 13 months ago and Homes are going for about $548,800 on average. It's a a small town city with about 9,220 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 5 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

No regrets on my end..

I work in manufacturing here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is decent. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
