Crime rate is something to consider — Indianapolis sits at 1,254.7 per 100K. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Uptown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Francisco about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
