Thinking about relocating to Indianapolis from Nashville

Curious what people think. Born and raised here. With a population of 882K, Indianapolis is a major city. Crime rate is something to consider — Indianapolis sits at 1,254.7 per 100K. Rent is about $1,112/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 11.6%, which is around average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to San Diego it's pretty good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.
