Longtime lurker here, I'm a 48-year-old marketing manager and Poverty rate is 27.2%, which is higher than I expected. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? Cheers. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 5 years. Moved from Atlanta for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The food scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Westside area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Dallas it's challenging.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
