Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,902/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $534,500, which is pretty steep. It's a a mid-size city city with about 290K people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
