I work in hospitality and The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. With a population of 79,187, Jonesboro is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Jonesboro sits at 686.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $213,400, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. TIA! The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Seattle about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
