As a 6-year resident, here are some things about Kent that don't make it into the guides:
1. There are amazing hiking trails 20 min from downtown
2. Several hidden gem restaurants that rival big city food
3. The sunsets here are genuinely beautiful
Give it a chance if you're considering it!

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Pine Grove. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Don't sleep on Riverside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

I've lived in Old Town for 5 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

Check out the Highland Park area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.
