Random thought, Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Kent?

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The safety is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The job market is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 14 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (West) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
