Things that make Kent unique

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $90,416, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider — Kent sits at 371.0 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 135K people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Fairview) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
