Moving to Kihei for work -advice?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely better than expected and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much stable but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

No regrets on my end..
