Is Kimberly still affordable?

Hey everyone, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Kimberly sits at 266.8 per 100K. Household incomes average around $68,295 in Kimberly. With a population of 7,432, Kimberly is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 7,432 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a sales manager and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Came here for school and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The housing market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Minneapolis it's surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
