Moving to La Crescent -what should I know?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider -La Crescent sits at 40.2 per 100K. The median home value here is around $244,500, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $82,109 in La Crescent. With a population of 5,266, La Crescent is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What are your go-to spots? The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The nightlife scene is average

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
