Couple moving to Lake Carmel from out of state

You can expect to pay around $1,479 for rent here. Homes are going for about $357,500 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 3 years. Moved from Denver for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much affordable but now it's tough.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Riverside area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
