Hi all, We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $2,208 for rent here. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $550,700, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $550,700 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Chicago about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
