Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Fairview area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Nashville about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
