Pros and cons of Lake Oswego after 15 years

Been meaning to ask this. My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $2,031 for rent here. Poverty rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $140,441, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Not very walkable
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Any advice would be great. TIA! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (South) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Bugs and humidity in summer.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in South for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The walkability scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a software engineer and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
