Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Ozark sits at 54.6 per 100K. Poverty rate is 9.5%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I overthinking this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Highland for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The job market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
