Curious what people think. Median household income is $139,959, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,782 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2016 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
