Why I chose Lake Zurich over bigger cities

Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,782 for rent here. The median home value here is around $418,300, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $139,959, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $418,300 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Far from major airports
Am I overthinking this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Pittsburgh it's hit or miss.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.
