Hey everyone, The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Charlotte it's hit or miss.
