Alright, Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $824 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
