Random thought, My partner and I are With a population of 2,621, Leith-Hatfield is a small town. You can expect to pay around $950 for rent here. Household incomes average around $107,206 in Leith-Hatfield. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
Pros:
- Diverse community
- Easy commute
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Not very walkable
- Chain restaurants dominate
Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 5 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is improving
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 7 years. Moved from San Diego for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is decent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Dating scene is rough. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
