OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 55, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Old Town and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
