Is it worth buying in Lorton?

Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $583,900 on average. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? Appreciate any input.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much affordable but now it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.

No regrets on my end..
