Lorton housing prices -when will it stop?

Rent is about $2,537/month for a decent place. Any advice would be great.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Francisco about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.
