Curious what people think. Median household income is $98,539, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,273/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The cost of living scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
