Los Alamitos vs Kansas City -which is better?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 11,784 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.
