So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $281,300, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Eastside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Greenfield area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 40, moved here 4 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Sunset and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The dating scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.
