Hey everyone, Homes are going for about $243,700 on average. Median household income is $58,441, which feels about average for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA! It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Pittsburgh it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Pine Hills for 11 years. Moved from Seattle for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
