Thinking about relocating to Manhattan from Atlanta

I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Manhattan sits at 813.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $243,700, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $1,019/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any help is appreciated. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 5 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
