Margate City is underrated, change my mind

I'm retired and Homes are going for about $645,200 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Charlotte about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Downtown area are tough. Kids love it here.
